New York City engagement session photographer | Astor Place | NYU | Amy and John
I recently flew out to NYC to shoot Amy and John’s engagement session. We started first at the Starbucks by Astor Place, where they used to have long talks over hot chocolate during winters. Then for the rest of the shoot, we explored the few blocks around NYU.

Porcelain Dolls | Pebble Beach fashion shoot
Confession. I had to wing it for this one. Prior to this project, I had never done a studio shoot before, much less seen one in person. But that day I had to be: a natural light photographer working with unfamiliar lighting equipment; an on-location photographer (the whole world is my playground!) confined for hours to an area barely 10×10. How many creative images can I actually squeeze out of such limited options?

Heidi and Steve deserve a medal for awesomeness. It was a superhot California day–felt like it was close to 100°–but they were troopers through it all. I also had the opportunity to shoot one of my first Korean wedding ceremonies. Absolutely love all the bright colors and rambunctiousness!

Talk about a kick-ass wedding! Jessica and Alex are both designers (I love working with artists), and with almost every part of their wedding a DIY project, they went all out with their Modern Glamour/Rock ‘n Roll theme. The details were everywhere–even down to custom ties for the catering staff!–and there was simply no end to the yummy eye-candy.

This wedding was shot by my associate photographer Steve Ng. The day started off with a traditional Persian wedding, after which they got into their Western attire, followed by an amazing reception with hours on the dance floor. I totally wish I could have been around for this one, because well …. check out these photos, and you’d probably wish you were there too.

Bay Area concert photographer | Home for the Holla’Days: An ACWP Benefit Concert
I recently had the privilege of being the photographer for a Bay Area benefit concert at Smithwick Theater in Foothill College. It was a total blast, with some of the biggest APIA hip-hop and R&B stars flying in from NYC, LA, etc to perform. I’ve seen some of these guys perform before, but this was definitely one of their best shows to date. Good times!

It was quite fun reliving a lot of memories while reviewing my blog posts from the last 12 months. I feel like I have grown so much both in my personal life and as a photographer, and am often amazed that I am able to do this for a living. To those I’ve been blessed to cross paths with–thank you, because without you, it would not be possible for me to live this crazy dream.
