  • Carmel-by-the-sea wedding proposal | Clara and Jeff

    It is damp and foggy, and we have to change locations and plans at the last minute because of the chill blowing in from the ocean. But it is … perfect. 

    My partner-in-crime Josh and I set everything up right before they drive into town. An empty hill. Two chairs placed under a tree. Jeff’s guitar. A bouquet of flowers with her favorite sunflower right in the middle of a sea of roses. 

    But she doesn’t know that, because she is standing in the cold, waiting for him to supposedly use the restroom. For the past few days, she has been here visiting from Korea. Their time together have been full of joy, but this is now the last leg of her trip before she has to fly back home. 

    Where is he, anyway? He is taking quite a long time in the bathroom! Long minutes tick by … until he walks out in suit and tie. 

    She starts to cry.
