Considering that I currently have a 2 month backlog of entries to post, I wasn’t planning on putting this up until much later. In fact, I haven’t even posted up Jessica and Alex’s e-session OR wedding pictures! But I kinda got superexcited and couldn’t wait. =P Here’s a teaser from my Trash the Dress session with Jess!

Monday’s post on “10 reasons NOT to become a professional photographer” seems to have caused a bit of a stir, and has now been read by over 1800 people. Be sure to check it out if you haven’t already!
FAQ: What should I do to become a full-time photographer? (or, “10 reasons NOT to become a professional photographer”)
The following is catered towards wedding photography, mainly because of all the photography industries out there, it’s most feasible to make a living shooting weddings. There are definitely those who are financially successful doing commercial, fine art, or landscape work. But the truth is, they are few and far between.

Hello from somewhere in Asia …
Hello again friends,
My 10 days in Laos has wrapped up faster than I expected. It’s been one crazy trip that has had me experiencing and tasting and feeling and smelling things I never expected to–some of which I’d gladly try out again, others … not so much. For example, I can now say that I’ve eaten the delicacy of rotten fish paste. I’ll let you figure out which category that falls into...

So, this is what it’s like to live your dreams? Sweet!
Dear friends,
I am writing this from somewhere above the Pacific Ocean, in a 747 hurling towards midnight on the other side of the world. In several hours, I will be landing in Singapore before catching the next flight out to Bangkok. After that beings a 16 hour journey deep into the heart of Laos, a trek that will take me by cab, bus, tuk tuk, boat, and foot. I’m hoping to make it to the border before it closes at 5pm, or I’ll have to find some place to spend the night...

Nor was it because they spent a lot of money–the reception was at a restaurant, and they didn’t have a DJ or dancing or any other bells and whistles. But at the end of the day, I felt that their wedding really captured the essence of what all weddings should be about ...

We all have our own personal heroes, those larger-than-life figures and role models we idolize and aspire to become. But as we mature and grow in our journey, some of these stars seem to lose their luster–their pedestals become shorter and their work less awe-inspiring than we used to remember.
But as I’ve progressed in my own photography, one artist I’ve found myself admiring more with each passing year is Zhang Jingna, otherwise known as zemotion.
